About One Global Ocean
"I spent much of my career telling stories about people and places as a travel editor, drawn to the cultures, journeys, and experiences that shape how we see the world. When I moved to Cape Town, I found myself looking at the ocean differently. What had once been a backdrop of beaches and beautiful scenery revealed itself as something much bigger—a dynamic world of travel, coastal culture, livelihoods, innovation, and opportunity."
The more I explored, the more I realised that the ocean touches almost every aspect of life along Africa’s coastlines. It shapes destinations, inspires cultures, supports communities, drives industries, and creates opportunities across tourism, conservation, maritime trade, marine science, and entrepreneurship. Yet many of these stories remain untold, and many young Africans remain unaware of the possibilities connected to the ocean economy.
One Global Ocean was created to tell those stories. Through travel, coastal culture, and blue economy storytelling, we connect Africans to the people, places, ideas, and opportunities shaping our relationship with the ocean. Our mission is to make Africa’s ocean future more visible, accessible, and inspiring for a new generation.
